John Harle is the leading Professor of Saxophone in the UK.
Appointed the youngest Professor at a UK Conservatoire in 1984 to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, his experience of teaching and mentoring younger players is second to none.
Whatever the student's current level of playing ability, his diagnostic skills ensure that the student is given personal insight into their playing and the saxophone, connected to work appropriate to their personal development and next suitable goals - whether that be general study, entry into higher education, undergraduate and postgraduate levels or continued professional development.
His understanding of the different outcomes and results the students want for their playing in whatever genre of music are connected by his profound understanding of both the musical and technical aspects of saxophone playing, as well as thirty five years of professional solo playing experience at the highest level.
His roll-call of previous students reflect this diversity of outcomes of his teaching, and includes Rob Buckland, Christian Forshaw, Tim Garland, Will Gregory, Simon Haram, and Gerard McChrystal.
The Masters Degree is the most intensive Masters course available to saxophonists, and covers every aspect of saxophone performance.
John's Individual Study programme reflects the philosophy of the Masters Degree, and is open to all.
